Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 soft burger buns
- 4 slices American cheese
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Fresh lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
- Ripe tomato slices
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat (about 400°F).
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions without forming them into traditional patties.
- Season each portion generously with salt and pepper before placing them on the hot grill.
- Using a spatula, press down on each portion to create a 'smash' effect for better searing.
- After two minutes, flip the patties and place cheese slices on top. Cover briefly to melt the cheese.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill while finishing cooking the patties.
- Assemble by layering lettuce and tomato on the buns before adding the cheesy patty.
